She received a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Environmental Science from the University of Maine at Farmington, and a Master's degree in Ecology and Environmental Science from the University of Maine's Department of Plant, Soil and Environmental Science. Her research focused on understanding the role of estuarine subaqueous soils in the global carbon budget, and determining sources of organic matter in these ecosystems. Jen spent several years on the west coast conducting rare plant surveys for the U.S. Forest Service, and overseeing a Non-Point Source/BMP Implementation Program in Lake Tahoe, CA. Additional experiences in Maine include working for Woods End Research Laboratory, Franklin County Soil & Water Conservation District, the USDA Farm Service Agency, and the Maine Conservation Corps. Her interests include restoration and preservation of native species and open space. Beyond these experiences, Jen enjoys delineating wetlands, collecting and analyzing water quality data, and working with local stakeholders.
