Megunticook River outlet in Camden, Maine
Megunticook River Resiliency

FBE is collaborating with the Town of Camden, Maine, on the Megunticook River Restoration Project, focusing on education, outreach, and community engagement to address concerns about dam management, dam removal, and watershed health, while facilitating the Citizen’s Advisory Committee in advising on sustainable solutions for the river's resiliency and fish passage.

Climate Resiliency & Vulnerability Assessment 

In 2022, FBE worked with the Gouldsboro Shore Program to assess climate vulnerabilities, recommend resilience measures for infrastructure impacted by storm surges, flooding, and sea level rise, and secure funding for alternative road designs and harbor vulnerability prioritization, with ongoing work in partnership with Streamworks.

Ecosystem Vulnerability Assessment

FBE assessed climate-driven vulnerabilities to Rockport, Maine’s diverse ecosystems, identifying risks from sea level rise, storm surges, inland flooding, and habitat fragmentation, and recommended actions such as conserving high-priority lands, pursuing restoration initiatives, and establishing protection zones to enhance long-term environmental resilience.
