Building the bridge between science and civic engagement

Our

FB Environmental is committed to the practical stewardship of our natural world. Through science and community collaboration, we restore and protect ecosystems, focusing on clean water and biodiversity conservation. Serving both public and private clients, we deliver sustainable, resilient solutions that prioritize environmental justice in every project.

Mission

At FB Environmental, we bridge the gap between science and civic engagement through clear communication and inclusive dialogue that empowers stakeholders to be part of the process. Our work reflects the values and concerns of the communities we serve, helping them to build lasting support for sustainable, science-based solutions. We are proud of our proven ability to navigate diverse viewpoints and find common ground that advances environmental goals on complex and sometimes controversial issues.

Our team of highly qualified scientists is deeply committed to protecting and restoring natural resources while supporting sustainable and equitable community development. With over 200 years of combined experience, we stay at the forefront of our field through continued learning and active engagement in professional networks.

Our firm was founded on environmental monitoring and watershed planning work for New England waterbodies, and these services remain a core part of our work.  We also offer a diverse range of other services that include climate resiliency planning, wetland delineation, natural resource permitting, municipal build-out analyses, septic system vulnerability assessments, geospatial analyses and mapping, grant writing, and in-lake treatment planning and permitting.

We work with a wide range of clients in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. Our team regularly collaborates with municipalities and regional planning agencies, state and federal entities such as the Maine DEP, NHDES, and US EPA, and nonprofit organizations including land trusts, watershed groups, and academic institutions. We also support private-sector clients, including renewable energy developers, engineering firms, and industrial companies.
