NATURAL RESOURCE INVENTORIES
NEW ENGLAND

As part of compiling information about the natural resources in a given area, Natural Resource Inventory development includes the accurate and organized delivery of geospatial products including data management, mapping, and analysis. In an NRI, we produce dozens of maps displaying information related to natural communities, surface and groundwater resources, soils, infrastructure, habitat, climate change, and existing conservation land. We also conduct spatial analyses such as an unfragmented land analysis and a co-occurrence analysis, in which areas with a high density of natural resources are identified based on overlapping natural resources and resource protection areas. The communities we work with use the co-occurrence analysis as an aid in identifying zones to expand conservation efforts. Typical deliverables include a series of maps for inclusion in the NRI, a spatial database with organized metadata, and updated data files which may include the digitization of paper maps or site plans.
