Pollutant Source Tracking
FBE supports coastal communities in identifying and addressing fecal bacteria contamination through targeted monitoring, source tracking, and advanced testing methods. By combining long-term water quality data with field surveys and genetic analyses, FBE helps mitigate health risks and reduce the risk of beach and shellfish closures that impact local economies, aquaculture, and recreational opportunities.

Stream Geomorphic, Habitat,
& Hydrologic Assessments
FBE conducts stream geomorphic, habitat, and hydrologic assessments to identify restoration needs for water quality, stability, and habitat. We evaluate erosion, fish passage, macroinvertebrates, riparian buffers, and more, working with engineers and agencies to support effective restoration. Efforts may include water level loggers, flow monitoring, and USGS gauge data to estimate discharge and pollutant loading through monitoring and modeling.
