IN-LAKE TREATMENT
PLANNING & PERMITTING
NEW ENGLAND

To address the threat of internal phosphorus loading on water quality health and the risk of cyanobacteria blooms, FBE assesses internal phosphorus loading dynamics to identify appropriate in-lake treatment options. With Laura Diemer on our team--one of the only two Certified Lake Managers (CLMs) for New Hampshire through the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS)--FBE has successfully planned, permitted, coordinated, and/or monitored two alum treatments for phosphorus control in New England: Long Pond in Parsonsfield, ME (2022) and Lake Kanasatka in Moultonborough, NH (2024). Laura is currently leading another alum treatment for Partridge Lake in Littleton, NH. She works closely with state agencies on the planning and permitting process to ensure the safety and effectiveness of these treatments.
