NEW ENGLAND

FBE has developed over 30 nine-element, watershed management plans (WMPs) for lakes across New England. Project components have included water quality analyses and monitoring, monitoring plan development, pollutant load modeling and analyses, GIS mapping, build-out analyses, land use and sub-drainage delineation, culvert fish passage surveys, hotspot identification and BMP design, municipal ordinance review, coordination with landowners, and public outreach. The WMP development process includes a detailed inventory of pollutant sources and an assessment of water quality, which are incorporated into various models to quantify current loads and predict alternate load scenarios. These assessments are used to inform a water quality goal and specific actions to achieve the water quality goal.

With an office in Dover, NH, our convenient proximity to the Lakes Region of NH has allowed us to develop localized knowledge of these freshwater systems and build a nuanced understanding of threats facing waterbodies in the area. In the Lake Winnipesauke watershed alone, we have completed eight successful nine-element WMPs and are currently performing a Comprehensive Protection Initiative for Lake Winnipesauke to create WMPs for three separate subwatersheds within the lake: Center Harbor Bay, the Broads, and Alton Bay. Building off information from past projects, we have the unique position to continue fostering relationships with local stakeholders, reference previous data, and continue our work in these communities to ensure the continued health of water resources for future generations.
