ENERGY PERFORMANCE REVIEW & VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT
WEST BATH, MAINE

FBE is currently partnering with the Town of West Bath and the Midcoast Council of Governments to complete a comprehensive Energy Performance Review and Vulnerability Assessment. ββThe vulnerability assessment focuses on identifying risks to critical infrastructure, such as town landings, culverts, and road segments, from hazards including sea level rise, storm surge, and high-intensity rainfall. Simultaneously, the team is conducting an energy performance review of municipal buildings, utilizing EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to establish a baseline for electrical and fuel use while identifying weatherization and efficiency opportunities. This dual approach ensures that the town can prioritize capital investments that both protect public safety and reduce long-term operating costs.
ββ
Meaningful community engagement is a cornerstone of this process, as the team facilitates public workshops and focus groups to gather local knowledge and ensure adaptation strategies are equitable. Through advanced GIS mapping and spatial analysis, we are developing clear, data-driven visuals to help residents and officials visualize future risks. The project will culminate in an implementation-ready Action Plan that provides technical specifications, cost considerations, and potential funding sources to guide West Bath toward a more sustainable and resilient future.
