Johanna Szillery

Johanna joined FBE in 2025, bringing over 20 years of experience as a natural resources consultant and ecologist. A trained soil and wetland scientist, botanist, and ecologist, she is passionate about leading teams and managing projects to meet client goals within ever-evolving, complex regulatory frameworks. Her career spans government, academia and consulting, where she has developed expertise in soil science, wetland delineation, functional assessment, wetland mitigation, natural resource permitting, and technical writing. She is also highly skilled in project planning, scoping, management, and quality control.

Johanna holds a B.A. in Biological Sciences from Drew University and an M.S. in Plant, Soil, and Environmental Science from the University of Maine, where her graduate research examined the effects of anthropogenically enhanced acidification on soil and stream chemistry.

Johanna enthusiastically leads the dynamic and motivated Ecological Services Team at FBE.

Hobbies: cooking, creativity, and just about any outdoor activity.
